Hello, I am Chi!

Reading helps me go on with my day, every day. I live to go to bookstores, to browse titles, to read in cafés, and to connect with other readers.

About Chi

I have been reading since I was a kid. I used to borrow books at the school library until I knew about bookstores. Whenever I was asked what gift I wanted for my birthday or Christmas, it has always been a book. Until now, my girl friends and I have this tradition of exchanging books during Christmas just because we love sharing our favorite reads to one another. I just think it’s such a worthwhile gift for readers like us.

What are my favorite genres and how did they became my go-to? One day, there were no more books left on my to-be-read (tbr) pile. I climbed up our attic and looked for teenage vampire novels (yes, they were The Vampire Diaries and Twilight). Then another day came, still the same problem. That was when I stumbled upon my dad’s books, most of which were thrillers (James Patterson ftw). When I came to my grandparents’ house, I got books from my aunt’s collection from when she was my age - Gossip Girl and Sophie Kinsella ones (and a whole lot more). These memorable instances were what shaped my reading preferences today.

In the end, I just want to share my love for bookstore runs, thrifted romance finds, reading in cute cafés, book talks with my friends, and just my love for reading whenever, wherever.

Reading has been a part of me, and I know it will continue to be.

“I think that sometimes the only real thing is now.”

Crying in H Mart

“It felt like the world had divided into two different types of people, those who had felt pain and those who had yet to.

All This Time

“That’s the first thing you said to me, remember? Once upon a time.”

Short Reviews

Black Scribble Border

“Take that momentary feeling of being lucky, that feeling of being on the right track, and enjoy it. It won’t last.”

“I would love you in any shape, in any world, with any past.”

“The thing with us is the only real thing I’ve had in a long time. You’re the only real thing.”

Even if the characters were red flags, and the storyline was simple, it’s still one of the most memorable endings I’ve ever read in a mystery thriller. The giveaways were there, but I was still shocked at the end.

Through the Heart,

Kate Morgenroth

I’m not one for science fiction before, but this trilogy holds a special place in my heart. The enemies to lovers, the parallel universe, the slow burn trope? It’s well-written with diverse characters and an interesting plot.

A Thousand Pieces of You,

Claudia Gray

I was always intimidated by fantasy books because I thought they were complicated. This young adult trilogy was an easy read. The characters were diverse and lovable. The plot and storyline were interesting. I enjoyed its humor and seriousness at the same time.
